Dear Mount Calvary Baptist Church Family,
God has blessed us with another year to celebrate Homecoming and the 121st anniversary of the church. This is the time of year when we remember and honor our past and celebrate the future and faithfulness of God.
Our theme for this year is "Regroup and Restore," taken from Joel 2: 25-26, which states, "I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten ....... You will have plenty to eat until you are full, and you will praise the name of your God ... "
Our Homecoming Coordinators, Sisters Brykyta Shelton, Susan Peevy, and Antoinette Walker have planned several events to commemorate this time. We will commence our celebration with Pre-revival Service on Wednesday, August 30, and September 6 at 7:00 pm. Our very own, Reverend Lolita Hickman, will bring forth the word of life on August 30, and Pastor Marcus Jerkins of the Resurrection Baptist Church, Silver Spring, MD, on September 6.
On Saturday, September 9, we will host a "Lunch on the Lawn" from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm in the Mt. Calvary Park next to the church. This will be a time of fellowship for former, current, and new members. Guests are welcome. Our guest preacher for Sunday and Revival and members traveling with him will be in attendance. During this time of fellowship, we invite you to bring your own lunch. The committee will supply beverages.
Reverend Kenneth L. Cotton of the Greater Barbour's Chapel Baptist Church, Texas City, TX, will be our Homecoming preacher on Sunday, September 10, at 11:00 am. Immediately following service, all are invited to the Leon Grant Family Life Center to dine on the scrumptious meal prepared by our Culinary Ministry. Our youth liturgical dancers will perform during the meal.
Reverend Cotton will also be the evangelist for our Revival Services, September 11-13, 2023, at 7:00 pm.
All services will be in person and in the cyber sanctuary.
As in previous years, we ask each member to make a sacrificial love gift of $200.00 or as the Lord leads you to give.
We look forward to seeing you and your families, as well as our friends and guests from near and far.
Peace and blessings,
Reverend Brian 0. Bellamy
Senior Pastor
